Oil gives back $100, and stocks take the win

S&P 500 up 1.5% to 7,764.70 and the Dow up 0.7% to 52,048.83 on Monday, while WTI fell 4.5% to $95.78, back under $100. The oil move looks supply-driven: reports that Saudi Arabia aims to restart a critical pipeline this week, plus Washington signaling openness to talks with Iran at the UN. Cheaper crude reads as a tailwind for equities - lower input costs, less inflation pressure - and the 10-year slipped about 4 bp to 4.956%, easing further below 5% as traders wait on Fed comments. My read: the tape is trading geopolitics through the energy channel right now, not earnings. If crude holds under $100, the path of least resistance for stocks is higher, but one supply headline can reverse the whole chain in a session. Watching: Fed speakers this week and whether the Saudi pipeline restart actually happens.

MarketWatch supplies all four primary series. Dow and S&P 500 figures are daily index closes. The U.S. 10-year figure is the quoted Treasury yield, not a bond price. WTI is the front-month NYMEX futures settlement, not the Cushing spot price.
